It's great to plan those holiday parties, but once the commitment is made, reality sinks in and the work begins. Not everyone is blessed with a finished basement, ready made for parties, and complete with an oak wet bar and dance floor. Not to worry, with a little work and some creativity you can create your own temporary bar. Portable bars are great. You can wheel them out whenever you need them and they're already pre-stocked with all the necessities. If you don't own one of these, a make shift bar station can easily be set up and tailored to your needs. Here are some things to keep in mind when setting up your beverage center. Location, Location, LocationLocation is probably your most important decision when setting up you bar station. Guests automatically gravitate to the bar during a party so decide what area of the house you want people to gather. If you have a small kitchen, this may not be the best location. Close proximity to a sink is a perk, but not a necessity. Some people like to set up their bar so that it doubles as a blockade to prevent guests from wandering into certain areas of the house. Try to find an area where you have room to store extra bottles and supplies in behind. A kitchen island or other designated space works well as long as you can handle the traffic jams while you're preparing food. I've also heard of people using bookshelves or outside patios (if the weather cooperates). Wherever you decide, make sure there is space for people to stand around and mingle.Reuse and RecycleSetting up a portable bar does not mean going out and buying a new piece of furniture. The chances are you have something lying around the house that will be suitable. Small tables or serving carts work well. I've even seen someone use an old barrel. Stock Your BarIce storage should be one of your first considerations. A small ice bucket, constantly in need of refilling, will only create unnecessary work. Try to get a larger container, such as a cleaned out planter, an urn or large bowl. I've even seen someone take a large cooler, place it beside the bar and have it over flowing with chilled beverages. Display your bottles, glasses, openers, and mix so that guests can easily help themselves. Be sure to include juice, pop, a pitcher of water, sliced lime and/or lemons and olives. Give Your Bar Some Pizzazz Now is the time to pull out your showy pieces and make your bar stand out. Grab those crystal bowls to hold your condiments and silver trays to show off glassware. If you have a theme for your party, try and reflect it in your bar decor. Have it resemble a beach hut for that Hawaiian theme or display pine boughs for a holiday party. Set up a wine tasting area by pre-opening various bottles and setting them out. If the party is for a big game, set up your keg and stick up a few sports pictures or other memorabilia. Once the set up is complete, pour yourself a drink to celebrate and wait for the guests to start pouring in
This article is the first of a series about San Diego Restaurants you can't miss. If you live in San Diego, or even more important, if you come to America's finest city as a visitor, I wanna give you some great options for dining in San Diego, California. I live in San Diego for more than 6 years, I'm originally from Brazil, so please forgive me for any mistakes, because english is not my first language, but I'll try my best to comply with all the grammar rules. Being an engineer from Brazil, I wanna start telling you about the brazilian cuisine and the brazilian restaurants available in San Diego. One of the most tradicitional kind of restaurant/cuisine in Brazil, is what we call "churrascaria", which would be a bbq restaurant, but different than anything you can imagine, if you don't know how it is yet. Of course we're talking meat here, so if you're a vegetarian I apologize, but It's not going to be a good choice for you. The Brazilian bbq steakhouse, whatever you wanna call it, It's an amazing dining experience, specially if you never tried. So what is it, exactly? It starts with a salad bar and a all you can eat buffet that includes most tradicional dishes from Brazil. That would be more than enough, but don't let that fool you, the fun is yet to begin. At your table, there is a 'sign' with two sides, one red and one green. You use that to show the servers that you "want meat" when the green side is up or red, if you're not up to it. The servers will bring you more than 20 different kinds and/or cuts of meat, all from the bbq, that includes ribs, pork ribs, chicken, italian style sausage, turkey wrapped in bacon, filet mignon wrapped in bacon, skirt stake, try tip, try tip with garlic, top sirloin . . . Well, you get the picture. They will come to your table, if your "sign" is green and keep serving you until you can't handle no more. It's an amazing experience. I took a few american friends to this restaurant for their first time, and they loved it. They couldn't believe the amount of food and the quality of the food. Everything is delicius. Of course quality will vary from place to place, and even how many different kinds of meats they will serve, but the experience is similar. In San Diego, there is two different Brazilian BBQ restaurants, both in downtown and actually, very close to each other. One is called Rei do Gado, or the king of the cows. It's a good restaurant, It's been in business for a while now and on a saturday night you'll need reservations. Prices can be expensive for a saturday night, around $35 per person. One great tip is to go for a weekday lunch special, that costs aroun $13 a person, a much better deal. But don't get me wrong, It's worth it every dollar. Rei do Gado is located at 939 Fourth Avenue, in downtown San Diego, on the famous Gaslamp Quarter. The zipcode is 92101 if you wanna da a map search. The other great choice is Samba Grill Churrascaria, also in downtown, and like they like to call, It's an endless parade of skewered meat! Samba Grill headquarter is in Salt Lake City, and the San Diego location is at 514, Horton Plaza, Gaslamp Quaters, Downtown San Diego (92101). Yes, it's inside the Horton Plaza mall. So there you go, if you have never tried one of this brazilian bbq places, GO! If you're in San Diego, or coming to San Diego and looking for a good San Diego restaurant, try the Brazilian feast.

You may be surprised at how easy - and affordable - it is to hire a chef in Atlanta. Here are answers to five common questions about an Atlanta personal chef. 1. Does a personal chef come in every day to cook?Typically, north Georgia chefs come into your home one day a week to cook, although in some instances you can book a chef in Atlanta who will come into your home several times each week. Do I have to do all of the grocery shopping? One of the beautiful things about Atlanta personal chefs is that they do all of the shopping for the meals they prepare. This not only ensures that the chefs will have the ingredients they need, but that the meals they create are made with the freshest meats, poultry, fish, and produce. 3. Do I have to have professional kitchen tools? When you hire a personal chef, she or he will have everything needed to prepare your meals. You don't need to have any special appliances or tools in order for the chef to work in your kitchen.4. What if the chef prepares something my family doesn't like?In home chefs are called " personal chefs" for a reason - they want you to enjoy the foods they prepare. To that end, they will meet with you in order to determine your food preferences, and plan menus accordingly. They'll go over the menus with you, and if you don't care for a menu item, a good chef will substitute something that your family will enjoy.5. How much does a personal chef cost? While the chefs of Georgia each have their own pricing, it's common for them to offer package pricing. For example, a package that covers dinner for two people for five days (an entree and two side dishes for each meal) might run $179, while a package that will feed four people for five days might run $339. These prices include the food, as well as the preparation and storage. For some people, having a personal chef for everyday meals might seem like an extravagance, while for others it can be a lifesaver. Many people use private event chefs in Atlanta for business gatherings, while others use private party chefs as they might use a caterer for an in-home dinner party. It is possible for people to make healthy food choices even if they only have a short time in which to prepare their meals. The first thing to realize is that it is often that healthy choices do not always mean a need for two-hour meals. A person can choose healthy foods that are quick and easy to prepare at home or to pickup from a takeout place. Cities often provide restaurant guides in their telephone books that display full-page menus indicating what a particular restaurant or drive-thru offers. Many of these food vendors now include healthy alternatives to their usual fast-food selection. At places like McDonalds and Hardees, it is possible to find consumers who are concerned about their carbohydrate consumption. This has prompted the restaurants to provide other options in their hamburger choices. Hamburgers can be ordered without the bun, for example, and fruit and yogurt are included on the menu along with fresh salads. Many restaurants provide salad choices either as side orders or as complete meals. Often, a salad of fresh vegetables with chopped ham, roast beef or chicken is more attractive than regular menu items. Salads are especially appealing in the summer months because they are lighter on the digestive system.Restaurants that feature foods in season cultivated by local farmers offer very healthy and affordable choices. Some of these kinds of restaurants will create their own recipes for healthy food options. This provides the consumer with a totally new choice and encourages them to visit the restaurant again. If home preparation of food is preferred, the options for healthy choices increase. Visiting a local grocery store or supermarket emphasizes the number of healthy choices that are available. Fresh fruits and vegetables are more varied than ever before due to improvements in transportation and preservation methods. All types of cuisine can be prepared quickly because of the choices of fresh goods rather than frozen foods. There are numerous choices among frozen foods as well. The demand for healthy frozen dinners and other meals has increased along with demands for more variety in frozen food offerings. Any frozen food aisle in any supermarket will show as many healthy food options and poor choices. The decision is up to the individual.People can either choose to eat a healthy diet or an unhealthy one. Time and availability of healthy choices are no longer problems for a person who is trying to eat better and healthier foods.
Think of buying a car as a game of poker, the seller is your opponent he may be bluffing he may not, but just as you would at a poker room in a casino you have to try to read the seller like you would in a poker room in a casino.Always remember to keep your eyes and ears open, when talking to someone about a used car. Make sure to ask lots of questions. In a casino you are risking your money, in hopes of getting a big return, but when buying a car you just want to get your moneys worth, you want a car that will be reliable and dependable. You do not want a car that wont start on cold days or that stalls until its been running for a half hour. Make sure to check the undercarriage and under the hood for rust. To a car rust is like cancer. Once rust is found it will spread unless it is cut off and replaced. Under the car and in the engine compartment you will find some rust it is only natural, but you want it to only be surface rust. This means if you take a wire brush to the rusted area you will brush off the rust and get to clean metal.Next make sure to check the body of the car, for waves and any bubbling in the paint, this would indicate that the car was in an accident or some rust was incorrectly repaired. It is not uncommon for someone selling a car to have rust spots sanded down and painted over to give the car a fresh look, but what will happen is after a month or two the paint will start to bubble as the metal begins to rust again.Next, look at the motor and mechanical parts under the hood of the car. The engine should be relatively clean from motor oil. If you see large buildups of oil in an area then chances are a head gasket will need to be replaces because of an oil leak. All electrical and rubber parts should be checked for cracks. Cracks in rubber parts means that the rubber is old and dried out and will probably need to be replaced eventually.Make sure to ask the owner if he has all the receipts for any work that has been done to the vehicle.Another important piece of advice is to make sure to take the car for a good test drive. Do not be afraid to drive the car a little hard with the owner with you in the car, chances are they will understand, if they object then maybe there is something with the car they are trying to hide and you should move on to another car. Many people will tell you that buying a used car is a gamble but if you take a good hard look at each car, and not get impulsive to buy, you can remove any gamble and guarantee yourself a jackpot of a car.
